LAHORE: Rain has forced the second Twnety20 International (T20I) match between New Zealand (NZ) and West Indies (WI) at Mount Maunganui to be abandoned, giving Pakistan an opportunity to retain top position in T20I ranking.
West Indies had won the toss and decided to field but the rain stopped the play, resulting in a tie.
Pakistan would have lost its top position in T20I ranking if NZ would have won today’s match as NZ, with 2095 points, is following Pakistan which has 2843.
Rain interfered after Colin Munro’s 66 off 23 balls with 11 fours and three sixes powered kiwis to 102 for four wickets off nine overs in the second match of the T20 series against the West Indies on Monday.
NZ is leading the 3-match series with 1-0.
The third match of the series will be played on January 3.
