Bros Barack Obama and Prince Harry laughed it up at the Invictus Games in Toronto and filmed a delightful interview that aired on BBC Radio 4’s Today program. And while it seems definite that the Obamas will be invited to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s much-anticipated wedding in May, reports suggest that they may end up getting snubbed to avoid an outright diplomatic crisis. According to The Sun, the government is nervous about a potential invitation to the Obamas, fearing that it might offend Donald Trump. “Conversations are ongoing about and ministers will eventually have to decide,” said a source. “If [Prime Minister Theresa May] lays down the law, Harry will just have to suck it up.” Strained relations have already made way for Trump and May after the latter criticised Trump for causing a commotion following his retweet of a deputy leader of a British far-right group last month, in November. Months before her relationship began with Prince Harry, Markle also made comments condemning the president on the Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore in May 2016. “Yes, of course, Trump is divisive. Think about just female voters alone,” she said. “I think it was in 2012, the Republican Party lost the female vote by 12 points. That’s a huge number and with as misogynistic as Trump is and so vocal about it, that’s a huge chunk of it.” Has this already formed the basis of a huge falling out between the two most major players? The World just might be on the brink of collapse because of the Royal Wedding! We’ll have to wait and find out.
