Officials reported that during the recent wheat season, farmers used the Kisan Card facility to purchase agricultural inputs worth approximately Rs100 billion. In addition, financial support of Rs90 billion was extended for the Kharif crop season, helping cultivators manage production costs and improve agricultural productivity.
The programme has also facilitated access to farming supplies for around 300,000 farmers, who obtained agricultural inputs valued at Rs30 billion through the scheme. Authorities believe the initiative is strengthening the agricultural economy by making credit and resources more accessible to growers.
Repayment figures released by officials indicate a positive response from beneficiaries. Out of 538,000 farmers required to repay loans totaling Rs67 billion, nearly 86 percent of the recovery target has been achieved. Farmers have already repaid around Rs57 billion in installments, reflecting strong participation and compliance within the programme.
Commenting on the progress, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said the Kisan Card scheme is changing the lives of farmers by providing direct financial support and reducing dependence on intermediaries. She stated that the initiative is paving the way for prosperity and economic empowerment in rural communities.
