
At least seven people, including two police officials, were killed and 23 others injured in a blast in Serai Naurang tehsil of Lakki Marwat district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday, police said.

According to a spokesperson for the district police officer, Qudratullah Khan, the nature of the explosion was initially unclear. Authorities were investigating whether an explosive-laden loader rickshaw had been parked at the site or if it was a suicide bombing carried out by an attacker.

Bomb Disposal Squad experts were deployed to determine the exact nature and composition of the blast, while law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and collected forensic evidence.
The police confirmed that among the dead were two officers, identified as Adil Jan and Rahatullah. Their bodies were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, while several injured victims were transported to hospitals in Bannu for treatment.
Officials said that civilians, including a teenage girl and a woman, were also among the injured. The blast occurred in a busy area where traffic police were on duty to regulate movement between Bannu and Dera Ismail Khan.
Eyewitness videos circulating on social media showed damaged shops, destroyed rickshaws and debris scattered across the site following the explosion.
Rescue 1122 teams and ambulances were immediately dispatched to the area. Authorities urged the public to avoid the site and cooperate with emergency responders during rescue and investigation operations.
A senior police contingent, led by the Naurang Circle Deputy Superintendent of Police, reached the location soon after the incident to oversee operations and security arrangements.

The attack comes amid a recent surge in violence in the region, following a deadly suicide assault on a police post in Bannu just days earlier, which claimed the lives of 15 security personnel.
Security forces have intensified operations in the area as investigations continue to determine the group or individuals responsible for the latest attack.
