At least three security officials were martyred and three bystanders sustained injuries following an IED blast targeting a security forces vehicle on Indus Highway near Barm Khel area on Saturday. According to police reports, the convoy was traveling from Peshawar toward Bannu when explosion occurred. In immediate aftermath, security personnel cordoned off the site to conduct a thorough investigation and search operation. The attack comes amid ongoing regional tensions, as the Afghan Taliban continues to provide safe havens, logistical support, and operational space for Fitna al Khawarij (TTP) terrorists on Afghan soil. This facilitation has enabled a surge in cross-border terror attacks within Pakistan, resulting in continued casualties among both civilian population and nation’s security forces. Separately, a Pakistan Army soldier, Mudassar Ali Khan, who was martyred while fighting terrorists in Wana, was laid to rest with full military honours in his native area of Banda Sahib Khan in Havelian tehsil. Funeral prayers for the martyr were offered in his hometown, where a large number of people, including senior military officials and local elders, attended to pay their respects. A smartly turned-out contingent of the Pakistan Army presented a guard of honour to the fallen soldier. Mudassar Ali is survived by his parents, wife, one son, and two daughters.
