Islamabad — Federal Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb has said that Pakistan’s fuel supply position remains satisfactory, even as concerns grow over the impending shortage of liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The statement came during a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Petroleum Products, chaired by the finance minister, where officials reviewed the country’s fuel availability and supply plans. According to the briefing, all fuel requirements for March have been fully secured, and arrangements are underway to ensure sufficient supply for April. Authorities are also exploring additional sources of fuel from international markets to strengthen supply resilience.

Minister Aurangzeb emphasized that the public should remain calm, adding that there is no need for panic buying or unnecessary hoarding. He reassured citizens that the government is actively monitoring the situation and has measures in place to maintain stability in fuel distribution across the country.

However, Petroleum Secretary warned that LNG supplies will not be available after April 14, which could result in shortages for the power sector during the month. Authorities are evaluating contingency plans to minimize the impact on electricity generation and ensure essential energy needs are met.

The finance minister’s remarks aim to alleviate public concerns over fuel availability and to prevent market disruptions. He reiterated the government’s commitment to securing reliable fuel supplies and addressing challenges posed by global market volatility.

Officials also highlighted ongoing efforts to identify alternative sources for oil and gas imports, ensuring that the country is prepared to manage demand fluctuations and avoid widespread shortages.

With the combination of secured March supplies, planned April arrangements, and continuous exploration of international procurement options, authorities aim to maintain a stable fuel supply environment and prevent panic-driven behaviors among consumers.
