Thousands of wheat sacks stolen and spoiled in wheat procurement centres in Sindh

Published on: March 11, 2026 1:23 AM

Government wheat worth millions of rupees has been revealed to be missing in Dadu, Naushahro Feroze, and Ghotki districts. Out of the 30,000 sacks of wheat stored at Radhan Procurement Center in Dadu District, about 30 percent was unusable. The report of the Physical Verification Committee of the Sindh Food Department has revealed surprising revelations during the inspection of Dadu and Ghotki districts.

Following the report, a final show-cause notice has been issued to the former District Food Controller and Food Supervisor of Ghotki, while the DFC of Naushahro Feroze has been suspended. Similarly, show-cause notices have also been issued to the DFC and food supervisors of Dadu.

According to the information received, the committees established by the Food Department for physical verification of stored wheat in Sindh have completed the inspection of Dadu, Ghotki, and Naushahro Feroze districts and submitted their report to the authorities.

The Verification Committee has issued a final show-cause notice to former DFC Ghotki Hakim Mehar and Obaro Food Supervisor Asadullah Baloch, seeking an explanation from them after the allegation of embezzlement of 35,000 sacks of wheat in Ghotki district was proven.

The Physical Verification Committee in Taluka K.N. Shah of Dadu District has reported the disappearance of 5,063 sacks from the K.N. Shah Procurement Centre. Holding food supervisor Qurban Magsi responsible for this matter, the food department officials have issued him a show-cause notice and sought a response within 14 days.

A show-cause notice has been issued to the center’s in-charge, Ali Asghar Panhor, after it was revealed that the weight of the sacks was not complete despite the presence of 40,000 sacks of wheat at the Johi procurement center.

Similarly, of the 20,000 to 25,000 sacks of wheat stored at the Radhan Procurement Centre, about 30 percent have been spoiled, for which a show-cause notice has been issued to the food supervisor and procurement center in charge, Hasan Dil.

Along with the disappearance of 4,000 sacks of wheat stored at the Khuda Abad Procurement Centre in Dadu district, the existing wheat was also unusable/spoiled, after which a show-cause notice has been issued to the centre’s in-charge Imran Magsi. On the other hand, DFC Ghulam Farooq Kalheri has been suspended following the wheat wastage scandal in Nowshera Feroze district. The DFC Dadu Mansoor Mirani has been issued a show cause notice for negligence and carelessness regarding wheat disappearance, weight loss and spoilage in various centres in the district.
