India fast bowler Arshdeep Singh was fined by the International Cricket Council after hurling the ball at New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell during the men’s T20 World Cup final. The incident occurred in the 11th over of New Zealand’s chase when Mitchell played the ball back to Arshdeep, who threw it straight at him, hitting him on the pads.
Mitchell reacted angrily and advanced on Arshdeep, prompting the umpire to intervene. India captain Suryakumar Yadav stepped in and apologised to the New Zealand player. Arshdeep later apologised at the end of the over and again after the match.

The ICC said Arshdeep violated the Code of Conduct by “throwing a ball (or any other item of cricket equipment) at or near a player in an inappropriate and/or dangerous manner.” He was fined 15 percent of his match fee.
India defeated New Zealand by 96 runs, becoming the first team to win the men’s T20 World Cup three times. Despite the incident, Arshdeep accepted the sanction and maintained a professional stance post-match.

Officials emphasized that the ICC continues to enforce player safety and sportsmanship standards, reinforcing rules against dangerous or unsportsmanlike conduct in international cricket.
