PPP Vice President Senator Sherry Rehman Friday presented a comprehensive resolution in the Senate of Pakistan condemning Afghanistan’s unprovoked aggression and cross-border violations. The resolution was adopted signalling political unity on matters of national sovereignty and security. However, PTI said that they support the resolution but did not sign it, they insisted on a regional security framework. Introducing the resolution, Senator Rehman said that Pakistan has exercised maximum restraint and upheld all diplomatic avenues, but recent hostile actions from Afghan soil have compelled the State to respond within the framework of international law. According to the text of the resolution passed by the Senate of Pakistan, Senate unequivocally condemned the recent acts of unprovoked aggression and hostile cross-border actions emanating from the territory of Afghanistan, describing them as blatant violations of international law, established diplomatic norms, and the principles of peaceful neighbourly relations. The house declared that any attempt to challenge the sovereignty, territorial integrity, or national security of Pakistan constitutes a direct affront to the dignity of the Pakistani nation and shall be met with a firm, proportionate, and decisive response. The members paid tribute to the bravery, professionalism, and sacrifice of Pakistan’s Armed Forces and law enforcement personnel who stand vigilant in defence of every inch of the homeland.
