TEHRAN — Iran summoned European ambassadors in Tehran after the EU labelled the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps a terrorist group. The move followed meetings held on Sunday and Monday at the foreign ministry. Iran warned that stronger steps may follow soon.
Foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei confirmed the summons during a press briefing. He said representatives of all EU member states with embassies in Tehran were called in. The meetings were held to formally convey Iran’s protest.

Baqaei described the diplomatic summons as only an initial response. He warned that Iran could announce additional measures later. According to him, Tehran considers the EU decision hostile and unacceptable.
The designation of the IRGC as a terrorist organisation has increased tensions between Iran and Europe. Relations have already remained strained over security and regional issues. As a result, diplomatic engagement continues under pressure.

Meanwhile, Iran has not yet detailed its next steps. However, officials signalled that future actions may extend beyond diplomacy. The situation now raises concerns about further escalation between Iran and the European Union.
