
KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah approved a Rs21.53 billion package for Karachi’s infrastructure upgrades. The package includes Rs13 billion for road repairs and rehabilitation. CM Murad emphasized speedy execution, transparency, and high-quality work for public safety.
The decision was made at a meeting attended by Local Government Minister Nasir Shah, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, Chief Secretary Asif Hyder Shah, and other officials. The package targets 409 roads across seven districts, including patchwork repairs on 400 roads and full reconstruction of nine severely damaged streets.

Malir District has the highest number of roads identified for repair (98), followed by West (81), Central (53), South (50), East (49), Korangi (39), and Keamari (39). Major TMC allocations include Manghopir (Rs1.75bn), Gadap (Rs960m), Baldia (Rs944m), and Mauripur (Rs858m). Selected roads in Gulberg, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Sohrab Goth, Orangi, Manghopir, Saddar, and Landhi will undergo full rehabilitation.
In addition to roadwork, Rs1.64 billion has been allocated for sewerage and water supply projects, Rs1 billion for stormwater drainage, and Rs1 billion for streetlight installation and upgrades. CM Murad instructed authorities to coordinate all work to avoid repeated digging and inconvenience for residents.

CM Murad highlighted that these upgrades are crucial for economic growth and citizen convenience. Funds will be released immediately, and progress will be monitored to ensure transparency, timely completion, and quality standards across all projects.
