The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Faisalabad Zone has arrested another accused in PASCO wheat scam as the crackdowns continue against those involved in large-scale adulteration and embezzlement of government wheat, causing colossal losses worth millions of rupees to the national exchequer.
FIA officials said that Anti-Corruption Circle Faisalabad conducted a raid and arrested Rao Tariq Mahmood who was posted as zonal head at PASCO office in Okara.
The arrest was made on the identification of previously detained accused in the case involving adulteration and misappropriation of wheat stored at PASCO government godowns.
According to the officials, the arrested zonal head is allegedly involved in the embezzlement of wheat worth millions of rupees.
On his Identification, 350 bags of misappropriated wheat were recovered from a private warehouse while 1,000 empty Bardana bags were seized from the godown of a private broker linked to the scam.
The officials said that four PASCO employees had already been arrested in the case and a five-day physical remand of the accused had been obtained.
