
ISLAMABAD — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday directed the National Vocational and Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC) to set fresh targets for its ongoing capacity-building initiatives and ensure stronger implementation of the Apprenticeship Law, while expressing satisfaction over the commission’s recent performance.

Chairing a review meeting on the newly introduced vocational training schemes, the prime minister noted that NAVTTC had successfully met its assigned objectives and had begun issuing international certifications aimed at improving the global competitiveness of Pakistani manpower.

He directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis to intensify efforts to expand opportunities for skilled Pakistani workers in Gulf markets. He added that the country’s youth possessed significant talent that could be better utilized through coordinated vocational programmes.
Highlighting the need for efficiency and accountability, the prime minister instructed NAVTTC to introduce biometric attendance for trainees and instructors at partner institutes, suspend memberships of underperforming institutions, and strengthen digitisation and online monitoring systems. He further called for enhanced coordination with provincial bodies to expand training access nationwide.
The meeting was attended by private-sector validators, industry partners, chambers of commerce, professional firms and experts from artificial intelligence and information technology sectors. Participants were briefed that NAVTTC had met key training targets set earlier by the premier.

Separately, PM Shehbaz directed the National Information Technology Board (NITB) to digitise all necessary stages of the Haj process in order to streamline access to government services for pilgrims. He appreciated preparations by the Ministry of Information Technology and relevant departments for establishing Asan Khidmat Markaz in Islamabad.
