Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed a Christmas ceremony at the Prime Minister’s House, honoring Hazrat Isa (AS) and Pakistan’s Christian community. He emphasized the government’s commitment to equality, justice, and protection of minority rights, assuring that the law would be fully enforced against any atrocity targeting minorities.
Sharif highlighted the historic role of minorities, particularly Christians, in Pakistan’s creation, development, and prosperity. He praised their contributions in education, national defense, and civil services, saluting Christian soldiers like Haroon William and legendary air hero Cecil Chaudhry for their sacrifices.
Recalling Pakistan’s founding principles, the PM emphasized Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s vision that all citizens enjoy full legal rights and freedom to worship without fear. He reaffirmed that equality, justice, and brotherhood remain the state’s guiding principles and core social values.
The prime minister also referenced the PML-N’s record under Nawaz Sharif, noting consistent protection of minority rights and participation in religious festivals to promote harmony. He urged society to embrace kindness, tolerance, and mutual respect, following the example of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Hazrat Isa (AS).
On the occasion of Christmas, both PM Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari extended greetings to the Christian community, highlighting their role in national unity, socio-economic development, and peaceful coexistence. They called on all Pakistanis to renew their commitment to nation-building and social harmony.
