Around 180,000 consumers lost electricity across five Ukrainian regions following overnight Russian attacks, Ukraine’s acting energy minister Artem Nekrasov confirmed, highlighting the ongoing threat to civilian infrastructure.
The affected areas include southern Mykolaiv and Zaporizhzhia, central Cherkasy and Dnipropetrovsk, and the north-eastern region of Sumy, where power lines and facilities reportedly sustained significant damage.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian drone strikes targeted Russia’s southern Rostov region, killing three people, including two crew members of a cargo vessel, as fires erupted in Rostov-on-Don and the nearby town of Bataysk.
Local authorities in Rostov-on-Don said the fire was successfully extinguished, and a potential leak of oil products was prevented, minimizing further environmental and industrial hazards.
In Bataysk, one civilian died and seven were injured as two private homes caught fire during the drone attack, intensifying tensions between Kyiv and Moscow over civilian and military targets.
Both Ukraine and Russia have accused each other of deliberately attacking civilian vessels, with Russian President Vladimir Putin warning that Ukraine could be cut off from the sea after recent damage to oil tankers.
