The premiere took place at the auditorium cinema of the Cultural Square in Jeddah, where the dazzling costumes, ornate jewellery and delicate set designs appeared more vivid than ever. Watching the film after decades, and that too in a theatre, offered what many described as a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
The screening also highlighted elements often missed by viewers previously, including Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan’s soul-stirring thumris that trace Ameeran’s transformation into Umrao. Songs such as Pratham Dhar Dhyaan Shri Ganesh and Ab Mori Naiyya Paar Karo Tum resonated deeply with audiences. Muzaffar Ali’s brief cameo as Ameeran’s father also shone in greater detail.
