Pakistan athletes receive LA28 olympic scholarships

Published on: November 28, 2025 4:33 PM

The Pakistan Olympic Association has announced eight athletes selected for the IOC Olympic Solidarity Scholarships to support their preparation for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. Each athlete will receive USD 13,500 annually from September 2025 to August 2028, ensuring consistent training and international competition exposure. This support is expected to significantly boost their chances of qualifying for LA28.

Among the selected athletes, star javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem, a Paris Olympic gold medallist, continues to receive backing as he prepares for another Olympic campaign. His consistent performance and dedication make him a key contender for Pakistan’s medal hopes at LA28. Moreover, his selection reflects the country’s commitment to nurturing top-level talent in athletics.

The National Rifle Association of Pakistan secured the most spots, with five shooters earning scholarships. Male shooters Muhammad Farrukh Nadeem, Suliman Khan, and Imam Haroon, along with female shooters Kishmala Talat and Rabia Kabir, will benefit from this support, enabling focused training and international exposure ahead of the Olympics.

Other sports are also represented, including Haiqa Hassan from the Pakistan Table Tennis Federation and Fateemaah Tuz Zahraa Khawar from the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation. Their inclusion highlights Pakistan’s growing diversity in Olympic disciplines and aims to strengthen the country’s competitive edge in multiple sporting events.
