Authorities initiated action after the gambling app, promoted by the influencer, was found involved in online betting and fraudulent activities, causing significant public financial losses, while investigations continue to assess the full extent.
Ducky Bhai was arrested at Allama Iqbal International Airport on August 17, while his wife, Arooba Jatoi, secured interim bail. Both deny involvement, claiming they were unaware of the app’s fraudulent nature.
The case, filed under multiple sections of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016 and the Pakistan Penal Code, highlights growing scrutiny of influencer-driven promotions and calls for clear ethical guidelines in digital marketing.
