
BANNU: A joint operation by the police and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) in Bannu’s Mamandkhel area on Thursday resulted in the deaths of seven terrorists and the martyrdom of one police officer.
According to the District Police Officer (DPO) Bannu, the terrorists ambushed security forces, prompting a swift retaliatory response that neutralized all seven militants. During the gunfight, ten policemen were injured, while four civilians were also wounded in crossfire.

The martyred officer, identified as Abid Khan, was laid to rest with full state honors at Police Lines Bannu, in a ceremony attended by senior police and government officials. The injured policemen, including DSP Malik Ihsan and several constables, along with the wounded civilians, were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for treatment.
Following the operation, law enforcement agencies intensified security and launched search operations to locate any remaining terrorist facilitators. Authorities reiterated their commitment to eliminating terrorism and safeguarding citizens in the region.

The Mamandkhel encounter marks another significant success in the ongoing anti-terrorism efforts in Bannu, underscoring the challenges faced by security forces in maintaining peace and stability.
