LONDON – Manchester City star Erling Haaland extended his impressive scoring streak to nine consecutive games as City secured a 1-0 win at Brentford, and the Norway striker credits his hot start to spending quality time with his baby son.
Haaland opened the scoring in the ninth minute with a predatory finish, helping City climb into fifth place in the Premier League despite a second-half dip in performance. “I have never felt better than I do now. It is about preparation, getting ready for the games. You can be physically ready but you need to be mentally ready,” Haaland said.
“With a kid it makes me even better because I disconnect more than ever. I don’t think about football at all. When I get home I relax even more. I think I need to give a shout-out to my son.”
Stellar Form and Career Milestones
Haaland has now scored 12 goals in nine appearances for Manchester City this season and six in two matches for Norway, with Tottenham the only team to stop him scoring in 2025 so far.
His tally of 94 Premier League goals in just 104 appearances since arriving from Borussia Dortmund in 2022 highlights his extraordinary consistency and finishing prowess.

Against Brentford, Haaland described his goal as one of the best of his City career, praising the team’s preparation and his ability to outmaneuver a packed defensive line. “This goal is top for me because of the whole situation. It was a tough game, and reminded me of Stoke City with Rory Delap 15 years ago. They are huge and do throw-ins from the middle, so it is not easy,” he said.
Future Speculation and Focus
Despite reports that Barcelona president Joan Laporta is considering a bid for the striker, Haaland remains focused on helping Manchester City chase Premier League leaders Arsenal, who sit three points ahead. “A low block is not easy, five people around us at all times. It is why it is not easy and why it feels even better to win,” Haaland added.
The 25-year-old continues to prove himself as one of the world’s most prolific forwards, blending physical dominance with strategic intelligence on the pitch.
