Electricity production from solar energy in LESCO areas has reached a record 1,630 megawatts, marking a major achievement for renewable energy in Lahore and surrounding regions, as reported by local sources. This surge reflects growing adoption of solar solutions by households, businesses, and industrial units, highlighting a shift toward cleaner energy alternatives.
According to available data, consumers exported 10 crore units of electricity back to the grid in August, demonstrating not only energy self-sufficiency but also a contribution to the overall power supply, benefiting other consumers in the region. Experts believe this trend shows increasing public awareness of renewable energy’s advantages.

In total, 19 crore units of electricity were produced from solar energy in LESCO areas, with consumers themselves benefiting from eight crore units. This equates to savings worth Rs4.50 billion, indicating significant economic benefits alongside environmental advantages for adopting solar energy solutions.
Domestic households, commercial businesses, industrial units, and tube-well operators were the main contributors to this solar energy output. Their participation underscores the importance of public and private sector collaboration in expanding renewable energy infrastructure efficiently and sustainably.
Officials noted that the rise in solar electricity production helps reduce reliance on conventional fuel-based energy, lowering electricity costs, easing pressure on the national grid, and contributing to environmental protection by reducing carbon emissions.
