Denmark will start a three-year Strategic Sector Cooperation (SSC) with Pakistan’s power sector in January 2026. The programme aims to help Pakistan develop low-carbon energy pathways and meet renewable energy goals by 2030. It also focuses on cost-effective climate action and boosting energy efficiency in industries.
In August 2025, a Danish delegation visited Pakistan to plan the cooperation. They met government officials, energy companies, NGOs, and international partners like the World Bank. These meetings identified priority areas for technical support and capacity building.

The SSC will target three key areas: energy planning, renewable energy integration, and industrial energy efficiency. These efforts will continue Denmark’s earlier energy transition work in Pakistan. Stakeholders welcomed the initiative and highlighted its importance for Pakistan’s energy future.
To move forward, the Danish Embassy asked Pakistan’s Power Division to share project details with agencies like NEECA and NEPRA. They also requested feedback before the MoU approval planned for November. The SSC will be governed by a Steering Committee led by Pakistan’s Energy Ministry and the Danish Ambassador.
