Sindh to launch pink taxis for women, says Bilawal

Published on: September 25, 2025 4:55 PM

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari announced the upcoming launch of pink taxis for women in Sindh. He made the statement during a ceremony in Karachi where free electric pink scooters were distributed to women under a provincial initiative.

Bilawal said the government aims to provide safer and easier transport options for women across Sindh. He expressed happiness at the launch, calling it part of a broader effort to improve public transport for all citizens. He emphasized that this initiative shows the government’s commitment to standing with women and addressing their mobility issues.

He highlighted that Sindh was the first province in Pakistan to introduce electric buses and later launched pink buses in Karachi for female commuters. Now, pink electric scooters are being given out free of cost to women to support their independence and safety in travel.

Bilawal also recalled the recent launch of the Benazir Hari Card scheme, which provides financial aid to small farmers affected by floods. He said both programs reflect the Sindh government’s inclusive approach to development and gender equality.

He urged private sector partners to join these efforts under public-private partnerships to expand services and create economic opportunities. Bilawal concluded by echoing the words of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, stating that no nation can progress without empowering its women.
