Severe flooding in Punjab’s major rivers—Ravi, Sutlej, and Chenab—has led to the deaths of 101 people and affected over 45.7 million individuals. According to a new report by the Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), the floods have damaged more than 4,700 villages across the province.

Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed stated that Chenab River alone affected 2,489 villages, followed by 1,458 in Ravi and 701 in Sutlej. More than 2.5 million people stranded in floodwaters have been successfully relocated to safer areas. The floods have also forced the evacuation of over 20.1 million livestock, highlighting the scale of the disaster.

To support those impacted, the provincial government has established 392 relief camps and 493 medical camps in the hardest-hit districts. Additionally, 422 veterinary camps have been set up to treat and protect displaced animals. Relief Commissioner Javed assured that financial compensation will be provided to affected citizens as per the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
The PDMA also warned about rising water levels in nearby Indian dams. Bhakra Dam is currently 88% full, Pong Dam is at 94%, and Thein Dam is at 89%. On Pakistan’s side, Mangla Dam is at 93% capacity, while Tarbela Dam has reached full capacity at 100%. These figures raise further concerns over potential water overflow and additional flooding in the coming days.
Meanwhile, Turkey’s Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) has ramped up emergency relief operations in Punjab. According to Radio Pakistan, TİKA is distributing hot meals, hygiene kits, and providing free medical care through mobile health camps. Relief efforts are active in several districts including Kasur, Jhang, Bahawalnagar, Muzaffargarh, Wazirabad, Sialkot, and Multan.
