The Capital Development Authority (CDA) will hold a public hearing on September 3 to discuss the proposed hike in water and sewerage charges across Islamabad. The hearing will take place from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Convention Center.
Citizens are invited to attend the session and provide suggestions or feedback on the proposed increase. This move aims to involve the public in decisions that directly affect household expenses.
CDA recently announced an increase in water and sewerage charges, citing rising operational costs. The authority stated that annual earnings under water and sanitation are Rs4 million, while expenditures have surged to Rs4 billion.
The hearing will also allow officials to explain the need for the hike and how the additional funds will be used to improve water supply and sewerage services in the city.
Officials emphasized that the public hearing is part of CDA’s transparency measures. They encouraged residents to actively participate, raise concerns, and propose alternatives to ensure fair and effective pricing policies.
In addition to attending in person, citizens may submit written suggestions before or during the hearing. The CDA assured that all feedback will be considered carefully before finalizing the new water and sewerage charges.
