Iran Air launched direct flights between Quetta and Zahedan on Friday, improving travel between Pakistan and Iran. The Airbus A-319 landed at Quetta International Airport at 9:15 pm and departed for Zahedan at 11:30 pm with 75 passengers. Initially, flights will run once a week, but frequency may increase depending on passenger demand.
A launch ceremony was held at Quetta airport, attended by officials from the Iranian Consulate, local business leaders, and Quetta Chamber of Commerce. Quetta airport manager Waheed Shah, terminal manager Ismail Khoso, and ASF’s chief security officer also attended. The event highlighted the importance of this new route.
This flight route will strengthen trade and travel links between Quetta and Iran’s Sistan-Baluchestan province. It is expected to boost regional economic activity and improve connectivity. Local businesses are hopeful for more opportunities due to easier access.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced that Pakistani pilgrims will not travel by road to Iran and Iraq for Arbaeen. The decision was made after consultations with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Balochistan government, and security agencies due to safety concerns.
Iran Air’s new Quetta-Zahedan flight marks an important step in enhancing travel options. The weekly service offers a safe, direct connection that may expand as demand grows.
