DUBAI: The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has officially announced that the Asia Cup 2025 will take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 9 to 28, with eight teams set to participate in the tournament.
In a statement issued on Friday, ACC President Mohsin Naqvi confirmed the dates, adding that the match schedule will be released later. He assured that all preparations are on track and discussions with member boards are progressing smoothly.
Earlier reports by a leading cricket website suggested that all logistical matters had been resolved, and a detailed schedule is expected to be finalized within the next 24 to 48 hours. Sources revealed that during the latest ACC meeting, India’s BCCI requested more time to finalize match details.
The Asia Cup 2025 was originally awarded to India as host. However, due to India’s unwillingness to send its team to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy, Pakistan also refused to travel to India for the Asia Cup, prompting the shift to a neutral venue — the UAE.
The provisional window for the tournament was previously proposed from September 10 to 28, and today’s confirmation has nearly aligned with those dates. All eight participating teams are expected to compete in both group-stage and knockout fixtures, with venues in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah under consideration.
More details, including the official match schedule, venues, and ticketing information, will be released by the ACC in the coming days.
