The West Indies had earlier posted 214-4 after a strong start. Captain Shai Hope led the innings with an unbeaten 102 from 57 balls. He shared a 125-run opening stand with Brandon King. However, Australia’s bowlers fought back in the middle overs. Mitchell Owen and others removed key West Indies batters cheaply.
Australia’s chase began shakily as they lost three wickets quickly. But Tim David turned the game around with his stunning century. He broke Josh Inglis’ previous record for the fastest Australian T20 hundred, which was made off 43 balls. David’s knock was aggressive yet smart, using his CPL experience well.
Post-match, David said he was thrilled with the opportunity and the pitch conditions. He credited his hard work on power hitting and shot selection. “It was great to bat here. I didn’t expect a century for Australia, so I’m stoked,” he said.
