Hamas leader Khaled Mashal has reached out to Maulana Fazlur Rehman, chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F), in a phone call. During the conversation, Mashal informed Fazlur Rehman about the dire situation in Gaza, where food and medicine are in dangerously short supply. He urged him to use Pakistan’s diplomatic influence to help open humanitarian aid routes into the region.
Mashal specifically appealed to the Pakistani government to play a key role in pushing for the delivery of life-saving medical supplies and food into Gaza. He said immediate action is needed to prevent more deaths, especially among children. The call highlighted growing desperation among Palestinian leaders amid the worsening blockade and famine.
In response, Maulana Fazlur Rehman assured him of support. He announced that a joint meeting of religious and political parties in Pakistan has been called. The goal of the meeting is to issue a unified demand urging the government to act swiftly and decisively.
Fazlur Rehman emphasized that Gaza and Palestine remain top priorities for religious parties in Pakistan. He said solidarity with Palestinians is a central part of their political and moral agenda. He also expressed deep concern over the suffering of civilians, particularly children.
This interaction reflects rising regional pressure on Muslim countries, including Pakistan, to take a more active role. As Gaza’s humanitarian crisis worsens, many leaders are calling for urgent international action to lift blockades and allow aid to reach the people who need it most.
