Meta joins Pakistan’s AI revolution with local support and training

Published on: July 10, 2025 6:23 PM

Meta, the global tech giant, has offered full support to Pakistan in advancing its artificial intelligence (AI) goals. A high-level delegation from Meta met with Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, in Islamabad. The meeting focused on boosting Pakistan’s digital infrastructure, supporting AI use, and preparing youth for future tech jobs.

During the meeting, Meta introduced its latest AI developments. These included the open-source LLaMA models, Urdu-language AI tools, and generative AI solutions for use in government services. Meta also showed interest in helping Pakistan build its own AI expertise by expanding training programs across the country.

Minister Shaza Fatima stressed the importance of digital transformation. She shared that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif leads weekly meetings to review Pakistan’s shift toward a digital and cashless economy. She also highlighted that developing youth digital skills remains a top national goal.

“The smart use of AI will shape Pakistan’s future,” said Shaza. She emphasized the role of public-private partnerships in speeding up progress. According to her, AI is not a luxury anymore—it is now a necessary tool for growth, better services, and job creation.

Both sides agreed to explore stronger collaboration. This includes digital training for youth, applying AI in governance, and launching innovation-based projects. Their shared goal is to push Pakistan’s digital transformation forward and ensure the country keeps up with global technology trends.
