LAHORE – A traffic fine issued to the security vehicle of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s son, Junaid Safdar, has drawn public praise—not protest—from the young political figure.
On July 7, traffic police in Lahore stopped and fined a black-tinted vehicle assigned to Junaid Safdar’s security. The vehicle was pulled over during a routine check for violating traffic laws related to black-tinted windows, which are banned under standard road safety regulations.
The incident gained attention on social media, especially after Junaid Safdar shared his response on Instagram the next day. In his story, he commended the professional behavior of the Punjab Traffic Police officers who stopped and fined the car.
“I was very impressed by the professional conduct of the Punjab Police officers who stopped and fined my vehicle yesterday,” Junaid wrote.
“May Allah protect you on duty and off duty.”
The Chief Minister herself, Maryam Nawaz, also stepped in with a message of appreciation for the officers involved. She praised the traffic police team—including in-charge Shahzaib and officers Parvez, Haider, and Mujahid—for upholding the law without discrimination.
Maryam stated that the officers had reinforced her government’s principle of equal law enforcement.
“You ensured the rule of law. That is the identity of our government,” she said. “I want to see uniform enforcement of the law across Punjab.”
According to sources, the traffic warden acted as per standard procedure and issued a fine on the spot after confirming the window tint violation.
This rare show of public accountability and praise from high-profile individuals is being widely seen as a positive example of institutional integrity in Punjab’s evolving political culture.
