Body formed to probe graft allegations against education officer

LARKANA: Sindh College Education Department Secretary has constituted a 3-member enquiry committee to probe into allegations against Shafique Ahmed Rind, the Regional Director of colleges in the Larkana region and other staff members for accepting bribes on the appointment, promotion and transfer of college staff of Larkana region.

On complaints of Sindh Chief Minister’s Secretariat and Larkana Principals Association (PA), probe committee comprising of Karachi Regional Director; Chairman, Deputy Secretary and Principal of Government College for Women, Shahrah-e-Liaquat, Karachi will enquire into the facts and will submit its detailed report within seven days.

Assistant Director Saleem Kehar, Personal Assistant Ali Raza and Junior Clerk Muhammad Ibrahim Jalbani were also accused in the case.

The complainants claimed that he appointed officers/officials upon getting bribes of Rs 25,000 to 50,000 on the transfer and postings from one college to another.

Rind also promoted lower staff from posts of Naib Qasid (BPS-2) and Lab Assistant (BPS-3) to the post of Junior Clerk (BS-11) after getting a bribe of Rs 300,000 in connivance with HR Additional Director Professor Karam Hussain Wadhyo, Degree College Naudero Principal Professor Nazir Ahmed Abro, Assistant Director Saleem Kehar, PA Ali Raza, and Junior Clerk Muhammad Ibrahim Jalbani, they alleged.

The President of Association alleged that Shafique Rind did not sign any paper without taking illegal gratification including a select portion of pension money and GP Fund from applicants.

Employees affected from this situation urged Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to take action against Rind.
