The Sindh Education Department has decided to start the upcoming academic session 2025 from April 1, and has reduced the syllabus for the current session by 25%. As part of this decision, the matric and intermediate annual exams for the 2024 session, as well as exams for classes one to eight, will be held based on only 75% of the syllabus. Additionally, winter holidays have been revised and will now be observed from December 22 to December 31. This decision was made in view of the shift in the academic session in Sindh from August 1 to April 1. The decision was taken by the sub-committee of the Sindh Education Department’s steering committee, with the formal minutes being notified on December 5. According to the notified minutes, due to the change in the academic session, the syllabus for all classes will be reduced to 75%, and DCAAR has been tasked with sending the reduced syllabus to the School Education Department by December 15. Information will also be provided to students, boards, and other stakeholders in a timely manner. The meeting mentioned that the academic year for colleges will begin on August 1, 2025. The meeting also stated that most universities announce scholarship programs in August, and therefore, actions are being taken to assist students with their admissions and to protect their academic year.
