Sir: In a country with earnest military and courageous civil leaders, the Osama incident in Pakistan would have led to shame and humiliation of its civil and military leadership and resigning of its military heads at the very least. No Pakistani establishment can sell the idea of not knowing that Osama was living in their backyard. No one is buying that idea and hence they are humiliating the Pakistanis living abroad. It is the moral duty of the commander in chief to fire his military chiefs after such a blunder has been uncovered, with the military establishment consuming as much as 33 percent of the budget and coming out empty handed. The Americans did what they did only because, let us be honest to ourselves, they do not trust the Pakistani government and its security establishment? On Sunday night I heard President Obama informing the Americans about the good news of justice having been done and I was wondering where is the speech from the Pakistani leaders on this important incident? President Zardari is more interested in convincing the Americans by writing an op-ed piece in The Washington Post rather than taking his own people into confidence by meeting the families of the people who have been affected by Osama and his reign of terror.
