Sir: The deteriorating situation caused by the increasing targeted killing incidents in Karachi is worsening day by day. These frequent killings in various parts of the city make people wonder whether they are living in an independent sovereign democratic state or in the stone age. Neither the government nor the law enforcement agencies have been able to keep the law and order situation under control. Karachi is the economic hub of Pakistan. These targeted killings are also affecting the financial sector, as investors and businessmen are transferring their businesses elsewhere as they can no longer afford to do business in such uncertain security conditions.
