Sir: Though not new, beggary has become a curse that is left to flourish right under the nose of the government. Islamabad, despite being considered an affluent city, is not spared this moral disease. The recent phenomenon of eunuchs joining the bandwagon presents a sorry state of affairs. It is not only beggary that is polluting the moral atmosphere of the country; the way these eunuchs ask for alms, adorning a typical get-up, is unhealthy for young minds. Undoubtedly, rising unemployment and illiteracy are the evils behind this jugglery of faith; however, a society is not left to flounder with whatever way of life it chooses for itself.
