LAHORE: Child Protection and Welfare Bureau (CPWB) Lahore, during its anti-begging crackdown, took another 25 children in its custody after picking them from various points in the city. According to CPWB spokesman, on the direction of CPWB Chairperson Saba Sadiq, a special team raided various localities of the city including Shaoukat Khanum Chowk, Campus Bridge, Barkat Market, Moon Market, Kareem Block Market, Main Market Gulberg, Defence Morr, Y-Block, H-Block, Model Town and Johar Town and found 18 boys and seven girls begging on the roads. On the orders of Child Protection Court, these children have been shifted to the Child Protection Institute and the teams were trying to contact their parents. Saba Sadiq has directed CPWB teams to carry on this operation to curb child beggary largely supported by mafia groups and individuals.
