LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif Thursday said that no compromise would be made on the protection of rights of small farmers. While talking to a delegation of thePakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N), Shahbaz said the basic aim of the $100-billion agriculture package was to increase per acre production and reduce the difficulties of small cultivators. Pakistan would become prosperous through the prosperity of farmers and this package would leave a positive impact on the promotion of agriculture and uplift of farmers, he said. The chief minister said he would fulfil his promise to shape Pakistan into a peaceful, safer and economically stable country. “Politics of compromising national vested interests over personal interests had caused a huge loss to the country,” he added. He said the PML-N government was forwarding the programme of development of the country as a mission and had initiated billions of rupees worth of public welfare project projects. The PML-N leadership has always upheld decent political values and this is the way to see a progressing Pakistan, he added. “Looking after and protecting the roads is our national obligation which will be ensured at any cost. ‘Pakiyan Sarkan-Saukhay Panday’ programme would help bring prosperity and strengthen the rural economy.”
