ISLAMABAD: Capital city Police on Wednesday decided to make extra deployment around shopping centres, markets and other main roads of the federal capital on the eve of New Year night. According to police sources at Central Police Office (CPO), 1500 policemen would be deployed to ensure fool proof safety and security and to keep vigilant eye during celebrations on New Year night as no one would be allowed to disturb the situation. Traffic police will also coordinate with the city police to maintain law and order and to control traffic on the occasion, sources added. The federal capital Inspector General (IG) Tahir Alam Khan has also issued directions to deploy police contingents at important places, shopping centres and main markets for the safety of public on the eve of New Year night. Capital police chief has said that people should behave as civilised citizens and avoid from any irresponsible activity on the occasion. Following directions of IGP Tahir Alam Khan, SSP (Operations) Sajid Kiani and SSP (Traffic) Malik Matloob have compiled security and traffic plans deputing police contingents at several important places, shopping centres and main markets for the safety of the public during the night. Police commandos will also be deployed at different places apart from patrolling by DSPs, Inspectors and there is also a provision of more strength to police stations. All the police stations have been directed to keep fool proof security arrangements in their area of responsibility. SSP (Traffic) Malik Matloob has constituted special squads to maintain traffic flow in the federal capital and a detailed deployment plan has been made to control the traffic in the city. He has also directed the staffers to take strict action against one wheeling and racing on roads. Capital city police IG reiterated and said that the citizen should demonstrate as responsible citizens and should play their role in strengthening the country considering the present scenario of law and order and behave like a civilised society.
