ISLAMABAD: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has frozen bank accounts of 4,000 suspects named in the Fourth Schedule, including Jaish-e-Muhammad’s chief Masood Azhar, sources said. A spokesperson for the SBP Sunday said the bank had frozen more than 4,000 bank accounts on the request of the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA). “We had issued a communiqué regarding freezing of the bank accounts of those that have been named in the Forth Schedule.” The accounts have a net amount of Rs 350 million. Earlier, the SBP had issued instructions to private banks to freeze the bank accounts of the suspects named in the Fourth Schedule. It may be mentioned that the Fourth Schedule comprises the elements found to be or suspected to be involved in anti-state activities, delivering hate speeches and/or activists of religious outfits.
