ISLAMABAD: Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Sajid Kiani has constituted special teams headed by Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs) to ensure arrest of proclaimed offenders and provided all resources to them for effective output. These teams have been constituted under the directives of Minister for Interior Ch. Nisar Ali Khan and Zonal SPs would supervise campaigns in their respective areas. In a meeting held at Rescue 15, the SSP reviewed the previous performance of all police officials and directed to accelerate efforts to ensure the arrest of proclaimed offenders at the earliest. The meeting was attended among others by SP (Investigation) Muhammad Ilyas, SP (Saddar) Zeeshan Haider, SP (City) Zubair Ahmed Sheikh, SP (Industrial Area) Ahsan Iqbal, all SDPOs and Station House Officers of all police stations. The SSP sought proposals from all police officials to accelerate this campaign for better output. It was decided that one SDPO would supervise two teams as one team would ensure documentation and the other would arrest the absconders. The SSP directed to provide resources to these teams and asked to bring into his notice any hurdle about the arrest of any proclaimed offender. He said that Zonal SPs would conduct a joint meeting to compile a list of proclaimed offenders and no sluggish attitude would be tolerated in this regard. Law breakers: Police in crackdowns against anti-social elements have arrested 14 law breakers including eight kite sellers besides recovering 440 gram charas, 40 litres liquor, two pistols 30 bore with three rounds, two Kalashnikovs with 14 rounds, 340 kites and kite flying string rolls from their possession. According to police spokesman, Jatli Police held Rizwan Raza for having 440 gram charas. Saddar Baroni Police arrested Shahid Hussain with 40 litres liquor. Other accused were sent behind bars for possessing illegal weapons. Meanwhile, Westridge Police conducted a raid and nabbed a kite seller namely Shahid on recovery of 100 kites and kite flying string rolls.
