ISLAMABAD: The Sanitation Directorate of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) successfully completed the Eidul Azha cleanliness operation. During this special operation, workers of the Sanitation Directorate collected and disposed off offal, entrails and other waste material of more than 60,000 sacrificial animals. Islamabad Mayor Shaikh Anser Aziz, Municipal Corporation of Islamabad (MCI) Deputy Mayor Syed Zeshan Ali Naqvi visited various sectors, towns and urban areas to inspect arrangements made by the Sanitation Directorate in connection with the special cleanliness operation. On this occasion, the Sanitation director, officers of other formations and local representatives were also present. Sanitation Director Sardar Khan Zimri also visited various areas of the city on the first, second and the third day to make this operation more successful. While appreciating the arrangements of cleanliness operation, Deputy Mayor Syed Zeeshan Ali Naqvi said that the staff and officers had participated in the cleanliness operation with full devotion. “The operation remained successful. Efforts of officials and officers in this regard are commendable,” he said. He said that cooperation of the residents of the city had made the operation a success. During the visit, Sanitation Director Sardar Khan Zimri informed Syed Zeeshan Ali Naqvi that according to action plan, 60 deep ditches and trenches were dug up at 25 locations the city where the remains and offal of sacrificial animals were buried. He was informed that in order to make the operation a success, Islamabad had been divided into six zones for collection of offal, entrails other waste remains of sacrificial animals to achieve the target. Zone-I included the areas of F-5, F-6, Blue Area, Saidpur and Bari Imam. Zone-II comprised Faisal Mosque, sectors E-7, F-7, F-8, and G-8. Similarly, sectors F-10, F-11, Golra Sharif and Shah Allah Ditta were in Zone-III. Zone-IV consisted of sectors G-9, G-10, G-11 and Zone-V included sectors H-8, H-9, H-10, H-11, I-8, I-9, I-10/2, I-11. Zone VI comprised Model village Humak, Shehzad Town, Rawal Town and Margalla Town. Leaves of entire staff of Sanitation Directorate had been cancelled. Officials of the Sanitation Directorate also performed their duties. More than 2,000 sanitary workers, including sweepers, supervisory staff, contractor’s staff and officers, participated in the cleanliness drive. Beside the Sanitation Directorate staff, the departments of Emergency and Disaster Management also assisted in the operation. All the streets of the sectors were cleaned by the workers of Sanitation Directorate. Moreover, about 200 vehicles, including tractors with trolleys, dozers, trucks, compactors of THE Sanitation Directorate, Environment Directorate and Enforcement Directorate participated in the cleanliness operation. Meals were also provided to sanitation staff in the field. Lime powder was sprinkled where animals were sacrificed. Moreover, a helpline was established that remained functional round the clock. In this connection, citizens contacted the helpline numbers regarding collection and disposal of remains of sacrificial animals. During the special cleanliness drive, pamphlets were also distributed among the residents and banners inscribed with concerned literature were also displayed at various locations of the city.
