Published on: November 16, 2016 5:44 AM

KARACHI: Leaders of the different political parties said on Tuesday that Liyari is Karachi’s mother and its also the head quarter of the nationalist movements of Sindh and Balochistan, they were of the view that since is was a Nursery of Nationalist movements in Pakistan the area was was handed over to the Gang War systematically by the establishment.

This was said at the Karachi Press Club during the launching ceremony of a Book “Liyari Ka Muqaddima” which is written by famous baloch nationalist Latif Baloch.

Former Chief Minister Balochistan Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch, who was the chief guest of the event, said that Liyari is a school of thought which gave birth to many political entities like Baloch Students’ Organization (BSO), National Party and others. In his short speech Dr Baloch endorsed other leaders’ views about liyari that Liyari dilemma is the production of establishment which was initiated to nip the nationalists’ movement.

Yousif Masti Khan said that I was the only person who dared to speak against gang war. Khan also highlighted the role of other Baloch politicians in the liyari crises and said that my colleagues forbade me to speak about gangsters but I was of the opinion that who would dare to talk about these criminal elements if I quit?

“It was said that Aman Committee would protect the Baloch’s from the clutches of Muttahida Qaumi Movement but I told my people at that time that MQM could kill a few but the gangsters would destroy our culture, society, literacy and historical background but unfortunately no one understood me then” he said.

A Baloch intellectual Ahmed Iqbal said that Liyari has witnessed blood bath from time to time; establishment was aimed at rooting out our ideology, our way of thinking and our struggle, for this sake criminals were floated in the area.

“Thousands of innocent people had been killed, many house holds had been destroyed, Rangers have established check posts now, where were they when the sky was shelling” he questioned.

Author of the book Latif Baloch said that this book covers three segments of Liyari, which are Society, Politics and History. He also analyzed that the Liyari crises and questioned about the director of this tragedy? Who was the script writer? It should be disclosed. He urged the intellectuals and writers that they must write on the liyari crises neutrally and and without any political expediency.
