ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday withdrew its party ticket from former federal minister Sikandar Hayat Bosan as protests by PTI workers against allocation of party tickets grew.
PTI’s ticket to Bosan in order to contest elections from NA-154 Multan constituency was challenged by the party workers. Raged PTI workers registered protests against the party’s decision to award a ticket to the former minister who had only changed his affiliation last month.
The workers maintained the view that Bosan, former member of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had shifted his loyalties towards PTI after completing his 5 year term in government.
However, amid the growing protests, PTI leadership said that the decision for NA-154 constituency will be made later on.
On June 24, the party released its final list of candidates running in the upcoming elections.
According to the party leadership, the list has been issued after the chief’s approval, adding that the candidates of the remaining constituencies will be finalized shortly.
PTI has nominated a total of 229 candidates for the National Assembly (NA) seats out of a total of 272 seats. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, PTI had awarded tickets to 90 candidates out of the 99 seats.
From Sindh 79 candidates have been awarded ticket for the provincial assembly and 11 from Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
According to the list, Shah Mehmood Qureshi along with his sons will be contesting from NA-156 and NA-157.
