ISLAMABAD: The sit-in staged by tribal people in Naqeebullah Mehsud alleged encounter case outside the National Press Club entered its second on Friday.
The protesters arrived to the nation’s capital from Dera Ismail Khan on Thursday demanding arrest of suspended Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Rao Anwar, who spearheaded the alleged encounter of the 27-year-old South Waziristan native. The sit-in participants have also vowed to continue their protest until their demands are met.
Naqeebullah was allegedly apprehended by police in Karachi on January 2, 2018, and was killed on January 17 in a controversial encounter besides three other suspects by a police team headed by Rao Anwar in the Usman Khaskheli Goth on the outskirts of Karachi.
Police on Tuesday this week raided a house in Islamabad’s F10 region in search of Rao Anwar, but were unable to find him. Later, the former SSP claime via a whatsapp message that he did not own the raided property.
