
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has strongly condemned the ongoing war involving the United States and Israel against Iran, calling it “madness.” His remarks reflect growing international criticism of escalating Middle East conflicts and global governance failures.
Speaking at the Hannover Industrial Fair in Germany, Lula criticised rising global military spending. He said trillions of dollars are being spent on wars while poverty, hunger, and lack of basic services persist worldwide. He called this imbalance unacceptable in the modern era.

Lula also urged that modern technology should be directed toward sustainable development rather than warfare. He said the world should prioritize safety, development, and social progress instead of conflict. His comments highlighted concerns about global resource allocation.
He further criticised the United Nations Security Council, saying it has failed to prevent repeated global crises. Lula noted that the body was created to maintain peace after World War II but is now unable to respond effectively to current conflicts.
