Officials stated that the depth of the earthquake was approximately 91 kilometers, with its epicenter located in the Hindu Kush region, an area known for frequent seismic activity. The tremors were widely felt across northern and central parts of the country.
Cities including Chakwal, Talagang, Kallar Kahar, Peshawar, Swat, and Malakand experienced noticeable shaking. In addition, tremors were reported in Kohat, Mardan, Lower Dir, Mohmand, and Parachinar, among surrounding areas.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of concern as people quickly evacuated buildings, fearing potential aftershocks. Despite the widespread impact, no immediate reports of casualties or property damage were received from any of the affected areas.
Seismologists often link earthquakes in Pakistan to tectonic movements along fault lines near the Hindu Kush region, where the Eurasian and Indian plates interact. The depth of this quake likely contributed to its relatively moderate impact on the surface despite being felt over a large geographical area.
Authorities have advised citizens to remain cautious and follow safety guidelines in case of aftershocks. Emergency services remain on alert to respond to any developing situation.
