Saudi Arabia intercepts, destroys 2 drones, Defense Ministry says

Saudi Arabia has confirmed that its air defence systems intercepted and destroyed two drones in recent hours, as Gulf nations remain on high alert following a series of drone and missile incidents across the region.

According to the Saudi Ministry of Defence, the drones were neutralised mid-air, though no further operational details were disclosed. The development comes amid heightened regional tensions involving Iran and the United States, which have triggered a surge in security measures across Gulf states.

In the United Arab Emirates, authorities reported a separate drone-related incident in the Fujairah region, where a telecommunications building was targeted. Officials confirmed that no casualties were reported in that attack.

Meanwhile, in Abu Dhabi’s Musaffah industrial area, debris from an intercepted aerial threat damaged part of a building, leaving one individual from Ghana injured. Emirati authorities stated that their air defence systems are actively responding to ongoing missile and drone threats.

The escalation has also prompted Kuwait to activate its defence systems. The Kuwaiti military confirmed it is currently engaged in intercepting incoming aerial threats, including drones and missiles, as part of precautionary measures to safeguard national security.

The series of incidents underscores growing instability in the Gulf region, where critical infrastructure and civilian areas have increasingly come under threat. Aviation routes have also been affected, with several flights avoiding UAE airspace due to security concerns.

Regional defence systems remain on high alert as authorities continue to monitor the situation closely. While no large-scale casualties have been reported so far, the repeated incidents highlight the risks posed by escalating conflict dynamics and the urgent need for de-escalation efforts.
