In a separate operation in the Bannu district, security personnel engaged militants in a gun battle, resulting in the deaths of three more individuals described as “khawarij” by the military. The term is often used by authorities to refer to members of extremist groups involved in attacks against security forces and civilians.
According to the ISPR, these operations were conducted following credible intelligence regarding the presence and movement of militants in the respective areas. Weapons and ammunition were also reportedly recovered from the sites, indicating the militants’ involvement in previous acts of violence.
The military emphasized that clearance operations are ongoing in both regions to ensure that any remaining threats are neutralized. Security forces remain committed to maintaining peace and stability in the province, which has witnessed a rise in militant activity in recent months.
