Government announces four-day Eid-ul-fitr holidays nationwide from march 20

Published on: March 15, 2026 12:27 PM

The government has officially announced four public holidays for Eid-ul-Fitr, which will be observed from March 20 to March 23 across the country, allowing citizens to celebrate the important religious festival with joy and ease. The decision aims to facilitate families and communities as they prepare for prayers, gatherings, and traditional celebrations marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

According to the official notification, public and private sector offices, educational institutions, and many businesses will remain closed during the four-day holiday period. As a result, employees and students across the country will receive an extended break to observe the festival’s spiritual and cultural traditions with their loved ones.

Moreover, the extended holidays are expected to increase travel activities as many people plan to visit their hometowns and relatives. Transportation services, markets, and shopping centers usually experience a surge in activity ahead of Eid as families prepare for celebrations and festive gatherings.

In addition, the holiday period provides an opportunity for communities to strengthen social bonds through visits, charity, and shared meals. Muslims traditionally begin the day with special Eid prayers, followed by greetings, family visits, and acts of kindness toward those in need.

Furthermore, authorities often use this time to encourage people to maintain order and follow safety guidelines during public gatherings and travel. Citizens are also advised to plan their journeys carefully, as highways, bus terminals, and railway stations usually witness heavy traffic during Eid holidays.

Overall, the four-day break reflects the government’s effort to ensure that people can celebrate Eid with comfort and peace. The festival not only marks the completion of a month of fasting and devotion but also promotes gratitude, generosity, and unity among communities.
